Question From: Charleston, South Carolina, United States
Q: I live in SC and have a beautiful potted daphne plant that is three years old. It blooms around this time of year, and the fragrance is amazing--something I look forward to each winter. This year, the plant was covered with flower buds but most of them dropped before opening. Thus, little to no fragrance. Other than that, the plant is growing and looks perfectly healthy. Any ideas on what went wrong that I might correct for next year? I miss my winter perfume! Appreciate your thoughts!
A: Probably weather related Judith. Perhaps too much water or a sudden cold snap. I am unable to grow them in my Zone 5 clay soil, but I have read they can be finicky. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
