Deadnettle Flowers Have Brown Dead Hole In Center

Question From: D. Nungesser - Delaware, Ohio, United States
Q: Our dead nettle ground cover is growing with beautiful flowers all over, but a couple of them have a developed a brown, dead 'hole' in the center which seems to be the beginning of killing the whole plant. Any suggestions are welcome!

A: My guess is your plants have a disease, such as crown rot. Excessive moisture most often is the problem. Take a sample and photos of an infected plant to your independent garden center for a more accurate ID and recommendation for control. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
