Does A Honeysuckle Bush Take Up Water Through Its Branches

Question From: r. parkins - Gold Canyon, Arizona, United States
Q: is it possible for my honeysuckle bush to adsorb water through a branch that continues to grow into the pond water is sits next to. We never water it, but it always looks very healthy. I understand the roots may be accessing leakage from the pond, but was just wondering.

A: Plants use roots to take up moisture, though they can take up some from their leaves. but not in the manner your asking about. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
