Douglas Fir Tree Needles Are Turning Brown

Question From: B. Schaub - NEW JERSEY
Q: I have 3 doug fir trees planted together..2 are very healthy and 1 has some needles turning brown. someone said to use a fungicide which we did. The affected tree is getting new growth like the others but wondered if it might be an iron deficiency. Perhaps you could shed some light on this.

A: Lack of iron does not cause fungal disease. I suggest you have your soil tested for accurate assessment. Best Nancy and Happy Gardening
