Dutch Blue Irises Are Sticky And Leaves Are Silvered

Question From: Booneville, Mississippi, United States
Q: My Dutch Blue irises have leaves that are silvered, and the whole plant is sickly. Information on thrip damage and aphids does not quite match the problem. The blades are flaccid and pale. They are new plants (<6 mo old) and have not yet flowered. Thoughts?

Your Iris are doing exactly what they should - that is going dormant. Check the following website for tips on how to care for them: https://www.longfield-gardens.com/article/All-About-Dutch-Iris. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
