English Ivy Has Dead Vines After Freezing Winter

Question From: Warren, Pennsylvania, United States
Q: My English ivy froze over the winter - It is all around my house - will it grow back?? Do I have to get rid of the dead vines?

Marion, Check closely to see if any new growth is emerging. If not, sadly the vines will have to be cut away. As you cut, look for green under the bark. If you do find green you can mow the area and ferterlize with an organic fertilizer such as Espoma Holly Tone or Plant Tone. Good Luck, Nancy
