European Weeping Larch Is Turning Rusty

Question From: D. Gauthier - Tiverton, Ontario, Canada
Q: Hi Nancy; My european weeping larch is turning rusty, there are no visible creamy pustules on the under sides and there is new growth coming on the rusted areas as well as on top of the tree. I have a flowering crab apple tree about 15 feet away that I have had rust spot etc. problems with, could it be spreading to my larch?

Your trees both have cedar apple rust. If these are large trees I would get an onsite inspection from a certified arborist. To find one in your area go to www.tcia.org and enter your zip code. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
