Question From: M. Scillieri - NEW JERSEY
Q: Hi Nancy .. I live in NJ and have enjoyed a bed of ferns in my front yard. Recently, every clump has resulted in a dwarfed or miniature version of the fern. They never grow to full size. They actually about 2inches tall. They appear healthy but stunted in growth. Any ideas?
My guess is they may have been contaminated by a pesticide of some sort. This often happens when chemicals have been sprayed on lawns, trees and shrubs. On a windy day drift is an issue. Keep them well watered. See how they do next spring. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
