Forsythia Leaves Are Wilting And Droopy

Question From: Easton, Maryland, United States
Q: I have a large forssithia bush that bloomed nicely this Spring. But in the last few days after much rain all the leaves look wilted or droopy. The stems that flowered have yellow to brown spots on them. I just sprayed with a fungicide today. Not sure what is going on.

Forsythia are prone to several fungal diseases. Wilting leaves sounds like anthracnose to me. Take cuttings of infected branches to an independent garden center or nursery for a more accurate ID. Also, follow the procedure you read in problems of forsythia and read the file Control of Fungal Diseases in yardener.com. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
