Forsythia Showing New Growth In Fall

Question From: NORTH CAROLINA
Q: 5 Forsythia bushes were planted in late spring after flowering season was over. Several weeks ago I noticed the leaves were turning brown and falling off a lot of the branches. Today I noticed there is some new growth coming in and wondered if it should be doing that at this time now that fall is approaching. Any comments? Thank you in North Carolina.

After a season of extreme heat and drought Mother Nature is doing her thing. Keep your shrubs watered but do not fertilize now. Let nature take it's course. Best and Happy Yardening, Nancy
