Golden Barberries Are Turning Brown On Outside

Question From: Flemington, West Virginia, United States
Q: i have two golden barberries and they are healthy on the inside but on the outside they are turning brown. I can't tell whether it is Verticullum or not.

When plants get Wilt the leaves wilt and then die. It effects the entire stem. Sounds like yours  are either suffering from some sort of burn, possibly an herbicide, liquid chemical fertilizer, or a dog peeing on them.  Sudden loss of some shade may result in sun scald.  Keep them well watered and see if they don't revive. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy, Nancy
