Handle Oak Tree Surface Roots That Compete With Grass

Question From: L. Hsu - TEXAS
Q: How can I handle the surface root of the oak tree, this surface roots compete with my grass, and damage the grass

You have a couple of options Linda. You can replace the grass with ground cover around the tree or remove the tree. I suggest you consider the ground cover. Happy Yardening, Nancy

Comment: Dear Nancy: Do you have other option, I can't remove the tree or replace the grass with ground cover around the tree due to home owner association rule. Could you offer other option to reduce the surface roots. Thank you!

Removing the surface roots may cause irreparable harm to the tree. I recommend you have a certified arborist, a trained tree doctor, do an onsite inspection and give you advice. Best Nancy
