Question From: T. Hotz - Brownstown Charter Township, Michigan, United States
Q: Dear Nancy, I have a hibiscus tree. We planted it about 10 years ago. This year it turned black and omitted this black substance all over. The branches also have a greenish mold looking substance on them. It appears to be dying. The leaves are turning yellow and falling off. Can I save it. We also have ants really bad and the plants around the tree appear to be dying as well. Thank you for your help.
A: It's time to call it a day. Dig it out and put it in the trash. Then clean out the area around it and cover the soil with an organic mulch including shredded leaves, and let it rest until spring. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
