Hollyhocks Have Healthy Leaves But No Flowers

Question From: MARYLAND
Q: My hollyhocks are planted on the eastern side of my house and have fantastic leaves but no flowers. They are planted near irises, resurrection lilies, and day lilies that bloom well. The leaves stay green all winter. I live in Maryland.

A: Hollyhocks require full sun ( 6 or more hours a day) and moist soil. Lack of flowering is often the result of excessive fertilizer, lack of sun and and or dry soil. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
