Home Made Fruit Fly Trap

Question From: Belleville, Michigan, United States
Q: Nancy, I enjoyed your article (Detroit News August 31, 2018) especially the portion concerning a fruit fly trap. I have achieved very good results by using a funnel inserted into container such as a glass jar or glass tumbler. There should be a reasonably good seal between the funnel and the edge of the container. Fruit bits can then be placed in the bottom of the container to attract the flies. If the seal between the jar and funnel is not satisfactory, you can try some tape around the joint. Flies get at the fruit bits through the funnel but can't find their way out! I have attached a "jpg" image of the entire contraption. Nancy K, Belleville, MI
