Question From: Cicero, Indiana, United States
Q: Our honey locust tree has a ring around the lower truck of the tree that looks like the bark is raw. It is a light shade of the bark not powder though. I cleared around the base this summer and may have injured the roots. I'm afraid its going to dry and we love this beautiful tree in our front yard. Any suggestions what I can do to prevent further damage this winter. I live in Indiana.
A: Let Mother Nature do her best to heal the wound. Hopefully you did not girdle the tree making it impossible for it to get moisture and nutrients from the roots. There is no way to repair such damage. Best Nancy
