How Far Apart Should Boxwood Shrubs Be Planted

Question From: Elizabeth, Colorado, United States
Q: the tag I have for boxwood shrub says 3-20 ft wide that's quite a stretch, what should the distance be for planting?

You got me on that one. If you have the variety name Google it to get the correct dimensions or go back to the place of purchase. A Japanese boxwood, Buxus microphylla var. japonica can spread to 20 ft. Dwarf varieties may only spread to 3 feet. Hence the directions on the plant tag. Placement would also depend on the look you want. Space or no space between the shrubs. Google guide to planting boxwoods for more information. Good Luck. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
