How Much Space Should There Be Between Teddy Bear Magnolias And A Fence

Question From: Waverton, New South Wales, Australia
Q: We have a row of teddy bear magnolias now approx 2000 mm tall planted at 900 apart last June. If a 1800 fence is positioned is positioned close to the back of them, on the northern side, will this cause any problems. They are well fed and watered. We are in Sydney.thankyou

These trees with expand to a width of 10 to 12 feet. Any fence should be 3 feet away from the trees to allow for growth, circulation of air and access to the fence and the trees. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
