How Much Sun Do Hydrangeas Need

Question From: f. alvarez - Naples, Florida, United States
Q: hello nancy. I bought some hydrangeas( Pinky winky and limelight) I live in naples florida. I read "sun to part shade" does this mean they will take full sun (6-8hrs plus) or does this mean some morning sun and then shade. I am so lost. I don't get the sun/shade/part shade thing. please help. Frances

A: In Florida Hydrangeas do best with 4 hours of sun a day. Morning sun is best. Hot afternoon sun may fry them. In the North, where I live they can take 6 hours of sun. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
