Question From: COLORADO
Q: Please help with ideas for getting rid of Japanese beetles! I put down beneficial nematodes in May, but they came anyway:(
A: unfortunately there is no magic bullet for these nasty creatures. They may be coming in to your yard from your neighbor's. A take down chemical that contains spinosad can be used but it also kills bees and other pollinators. One gardener suggested layering a sheet under the shrub or plant and shaking it. The bugs will drop down on the sheet. Then she gathers it up and stuffs it in her freezer for an hour. The bodies are then given to her neighbor to feed to her chickens. This must be done at day break when the beetles are sluggish and not ready to fly. Wish I could be more helpful. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
