Question From: Strasburg, Pennsylvania, United States
Q: what product is the best to use to kill wooly adelgiad on several of our Canadian hemlocks. I would prefer using a systemtic method in the ground verse spraying due to the height of some of the trees. I was told today at our local garden center that Grub Beater by Bionide would work but the ingredients only contain .05% imidocloprid. Our problem is with numerous different sizes of hemlocks in south eastern PA. If that is a sufficient product, is early spring a suitable time to apply
A: Dana, I am not trained in the use of pesticides nor am I a certified arborist, so I cannot advise you on that program. Bayer Tree and Shrub concentrate is labeled for Wooly Adelgid. I recommend you get an onsite inspection by a professional. To find a certified arborist in your area go to TCIA.com and enter your zip code. It is unlawful to use pesticides on plants the product is not labeled for. If you truly value your trees get the advice of a trained professional.Application by injection is the most expedient method. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
