How To Grow Vegetables In High Desert Heat

Q: I live in las vegas Nv and the temp. has been in the 100s +. I am watering in the evenings. Should I water in the mornings too. My cukes are green while very young but turn yellow then orange before they are full grown.. My tomatoes are not getting real big. some have black spots on bottom. I had one ripe tomato and the rest don't seem to want to ripen. Help!!!!!
