How To Harvest Greens That Must Travel A Couple Of Hours By Car

Question From: M. Nightenhelser - Atlanta, Indiana, United States
Q: I am growing leaf lettuce, kale, and spinach for my daughter who lives a couple hours away from me. If I harvest it immediately before delivering it to her, will it start to wilt in that amount of time ? What would be your advice as how to go about this ? Thanks

Harvest it in the morning. Wrap it in damp paper towels and refrigerate it until you leave for. Store it in an ice filled kooler on the road. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
