How To Identify And Care For A Primrose

Question From: R. Spieker - PENNSYLVANIA
Q: My daughter-in-law gave me a lovely little flower plant for Easter. I asked her if it was a Primrose. She said I think so. How can I be sure? I has 3 red flowers, about 2" in dia., with yellow centers and large green leaves. If it is a Primrose is it a perennial? Can it be planted outdoors? Any suggestions?

It is a primrose Rebecca and it can be planted outdoors when the weather is frost free. Primroses are perennials. They like organic rich soil in a part shade garden. Be sure to keep the plant watered until it becomes established. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
