How To Identify Small Tree That Blooms Pink In Winter

Question From: Ashland, Oregon, United States
Q: A neighbor has a small tree that is blooming now (pink) - the leaves are similar to those of a camellia, but not identical. She dosen't know what it is, as it was there when she bought the house. Do you know what it might be?

Living in Michigan - it's 15 degrees, I can't help you. I'd have your neighbor take a few photos to a local garden center or nursery that sells trees ( not a big box) for an ID. Include closeups of the leaves. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
