How To Keep Pencil Holly Leaves Glossy And Shiny

Question From: M. Pope - Dunn, North Carolina, United States
Q: How do you keep pencil hollies glossy and shiny?

Healthy leaves on hollies are glossy. The shine comes from a waxy coating If you have sprayed during the day and the product dried on the leaves, they may need a bath. Take a damp rag and see if you can wipe off any sort of coating. If so you can give them a bath with a 20 gallon hose end sprayer filled with 1/4 cup original formula Dawn liquid dish soap and water attached to the end of your hose. Don't do this in the hot sun. If that does not work your plants may have other issues. Have a professional do an onsite inspection or take samples of the leaves to a good independent nursery. To find a certified arborist in your area call 800-733-2622 or go on-line at www.tcia.org. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
