How To Keep Pussy Willow Tree Roots Under Control

Question From: WISCONSIN
Q: Do weeping pussy willow trees have invasive roots like a weeping willow tree? I have a small yard and do not want to worry about any underground pipes or lines being damaged. thanks Mary

All willows seek water, however the weeping willows are grafted on to smaller stock and will not have the extensive root system of larger trees. Root pruning, that is sinking a spade into the ground in a circle three fee from the trunk of the tree will help keep the roots under control. Happy Yardening, Nancy
