How To Keep Unwanted Black Birds From Feeders

Question From: R. Tozzi - Trenton, Michigan, United States
Q: I read your article on the humming birds. Thank you. My question is about unwanted black birds that come to my feeders in flocks and clean them out in one day. The cardinals, chickadees, jays, don't have a chance to feed. I put cracked corn on the ground hoping they will eat the corn and leave the feeders alone but without success. Do you have any suggestions?

A: Ruth, I am not a specialist when it comes to birds. I do know you can buy bird cages that only chickadees can feed at. I suggest you stop in to a store that specializes feeding wild birds, such as Wild Birds Unlimited (http://www.wbu.com/)for additional suggestions. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
