How To Over Winter Ice Plants

Question From: Troy, Michigan, United States
Q: I have a couple of ice plants that I purchased over the summer and when I was putting my plants in to bed for winter I was wondering how does one do this with ice plants any advise. Thank you

This succulent thrives in full sun and well drained lean soil. It should do fine if grown in those conditions. Evergreen boughs covering the plants in the dead of winter may keep them from wind burning, but my hardy succulents seem to do fine on their own. Mulching with pea gravel around the crowns is an option. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
