How To Overwinter Clematis

Question From: Plymouth, Michigan, United States
Q: In the early summer I had a new clematis that a rabbit ate down to nothing. I set the part aside figuring I would get rid of it later. Fortunately, well checking up in August had come back better than it was. I have it in a pot. How should I handle it for winter? Plant into the ground now? Would this give it enough time to establish itself. Or leave it in the container in the garage or someplace else? Thanks for any help you can give me. Love your column

A: I would either plant it in the ground now or store it in the garage over the winter. The choice is yours. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
