How To Protect A Lavender Tree During Winter

Question From: D. Samarian - Troy, Michigan, United States
Q: Purchased a lavender tree plant at costco and planted it in my yard. Did great all summer. Should it be covered during the winter? Follow and love your column in free press.

Depends on the variety. Hopefully you kept the tag. Google the name to find out if the plant in hardy to zone 5. If so it may survive the winter outdoors. Cover it with evergreen boughs or a big basket after the soil freezes. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
