How To Protect Crepe Myrtle From Deer

Question From: Madison, New Jersey, United States
Q: Hello Nancy, My name is Nancy too! We will have backyard project to re-built it. I like Grape myrtle (either trees or shrubs) but sometimes deers can come to our backyard. I am worry about it. Please advise how to take care it? Many thanks, Nancy in NJ

Nancy, I live in the middle of the woods lots of deer. I use a product called PlantSkydd. It's blood based, not fun to use, but lasts for about 6 weeks unless we are deluged by rain. Liquid Fence also works but must be applied after every rain. As for care, I can't grow that plant in my zone 5 garden, so I suggest you talk to the nursery where you purchase it. and re-read the Yardener section on Crepe-Myrtle. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
