How To Protect White Peach Tree Fruit From Birds

Question From: R. Foote - Whittier, California, United States
Q: Thank you for your feedback regarding my poppy plants. I sprayed them today and will follow your advice much sooner next year. One more question: I have a beautiful little peach tree with lots of peaches but as the peaches ripen, the birds (sparrows and finches) peck away on my tasty peaches. What can be done to keep the birds away until the fruit is ready.

A: It the tree is very small you can wrap the canopy with bird netting. It's light weight black plastic netting found in garden centers. You might also check in at your local birding store. They may have some gadget to scare the birds off, although most folks try to attract them. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
