How To Remove Leaves After Lawn Reseeding

Question From: D. Carmack - MASSACHUSETTS
Q: I'm about to till my entire lawn and reseed. I'm concerned that about 5 weeks after I seed, the trees are going to dump about 6" of leaves on my new grass. What to do? Will raking be too harsh on the seedlings?

A:

Blow the leaves off the lawn. You can get the nifty WORX blower vac for about $115 on Amazon (under $85 if you get a model with a plastic impeller). If you have a mulching mower, mulch some of the leaves into the lawn early on. An inch or so of shredded leaves will be a great addition. Best Nancy, Happy Yardening
