How To Remove Sedum From Garden

Question From: G. Barron - WASHINGTON
Q: Three types of sedum have totally overtaken by vegetable garden. Can I kill it by covering it with a tarp, or perhaps dig it under and not have it grown back. I have turned the soil before but it has come back. Unsure if it is from little plants segments falling off or re-growing from the roots.

You can kill it by covering with a tarp but it will have to be left in place for three months during the summer. Sedum is a tough customer. It will propagate from bits of the plant or small bits of roots, so rototilling only spreads it. Google how to rid the garden of sedum for techniques that will work for you. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
