How To Remove Shoots From Magnolia Tree Trunk Base

Question From: Bowling Green, Kentucky, United States
Q: how to kill weeds at trunk base of magnolia tree planted 1 year ago

If those are suckers you can just cut them off at the base of the tree. It is not a good sign that your tree is suckering as that usually happens when the tree is in stress. You might want to have it looked at by certified arborist. To find one in your area go to www.tcia.org and enter your zip code. If the weeds are just weeds, pull them out.
