How To Seal Concrete Planter For Outdoor Use Through Winter

Question From: New York, New York, United States
Q: Hi Nancy - I have a cast stone planter that I intend to keep outdoors during the winter. Can you recomend any type of weatherproof spray for it? I would prefer a matte finish. Thanks!!

A: Concrete water sealers are often recommended for use on outdoor concrete. The statue should be hosed down to remove dust and dirt and allowed to dry thoroughly. Be sure to use a clear stain and test for discoloration on the bottom or an inconspicuous site and allow to dry. The statue should be raised off the ground over the winter. Two wooden 2 ax 4's would do fine. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
