How To Stop A Cut Tree Branch From Dripping Water

Question From: Leesville, Louisiana, United States
Q: We had to cut a limb that was hanging over our house—now water is pouring out of the end where cut creating a water problem on a walkway. How can we stop the cut end from dripping water?

Unfortunately there is nothing to be done. The drip will subside with the coming of spring. Maples and birches both bleed sap when pruned in late winter. Painting the wound with tree paint will do more harm and not control the flow. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
