How To Tell If Tree Is Getting Too Much Or Too Little Water

Question From: F. Kreider - COLORADO
Q: how can you tell when a tree is getting too much or not enough water? Specifically: Purple Cone Pine and Mugo Pine.

Check the soil around the tree. It should be moist, not sodden. Rule of thumb is an inch of water a week from a hose or Mother Nature. Use a tuna can and measure the level of the water after 20 minutes of watering. Do the math. Happy Yardening, Nancy
