How To Treat Lopidea Davisi Bug On Phlox

Question From: Catonsville, Maryland, United States
Q: Wondering which product to use on lopidea davisi (orange and black plant bug on standing phlox). Bug has disappeared for now, but I've read this bug overwinters. Thinking I will wait till spring and see if bug returns? Garden located in Baltimore county Maryland. Thank you.

My recommendation would be AzaMax which is OMRI listed. This phlox plant bug ( lopidia davisi ) hatches out in May/June and again in July. The eggs overwinter in the stem of the phlox so do a good job of fall cleanup to lessen next year's hatch. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
