How To Treat Southern Blight

Question From: K. Hare - NEW YORK
Q: Hi Nancy, I live in Rochester, NY & my flower bed has Southern Blight. It's spreading to my other flower beds. I would like to use a fungicide to treat my flower beds & get rid of the blight but stores don't seem to carry anything specifically treating Southern Blight. Can you direct me to products or stores that might carry products which are available in Rochester? Thank you for your help.

A:

Kip, The OMRI listed fungicide ACTINOVATE is effective for use on Southern Blight. It is used as a foliar spray and a soil drench. It will not be active in the soil until the soil reaches a temperature of 50 degrees. Be sure to read the label and follow the instructions. When digging in infected soil or pruning infected plants, sterilize your tools with a household bleach rinse mixed at 1 part bleach to 10 parts water. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
