How To Water Tomatoes Grown In Cloth Bags While On Vacation

Question From: South Lyon, Michigan, United States
Q: I'm am growing tomatoes in the cloth grow bags. We have the chance to take a five day trip but I'm not sure of the best way to make sure they are watered while gone. In the past I have used a child's pool for flowers in plastic planters. This worked well, but don't know if the bags would get too much water if set in a pool with water. Thank you for any help you can give me.

If the pool only has an inch or so of water the plants should be okay. The roots will get oxygen as it moves through the walls of the bags. The weather forecast shows temps in the mid eighties. Shouldn't be a problem. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy

Comment: Thank You Nancy, I also used your advice for planting the tomatoes. I can't believe how tall they have grown and how many tomatoes are started even with the lack of sun and so much rain. Maureen Zormeier
