Hydrangea Shrubs Have Very Few Blooms This Year

Question From: West Bloomfield Township, Michigan, United States
Q: Last year my hydrangea shrubs(5) had many, many blooms. This year, I have only 4 budding blooms from all the shrubs. Can I do something to make them bloom? The shrubs are tall, green plentiful, and they look healthy, but no blooms.

Goldie, Sadly for most, the time for developing blooms has past. My pee gee Hyrdangea 'Lime Light' had hundreds of blooms last year and very few this year. Macrophyllas died back to the ground and have no blooms this year. Production varies with specie. You need to know what kind of Hydrangeas you are growing to figure out what's going on. Best, Nancy
