Inside Leaves Of Weigela Are Dying

Question From: VIRGINIA
Q: My weigela plant has interior leaves that are brown and dead but the ends of the branches are still green and healthy looking. The soil is not overly wet but has been very hot this summer. No evidence of insects.

The leaves produced on old growth may have been damaged by cold and temperature fluctuations when emerging and are unable to handle the hot weather. I would take photos of the damage to an independent nursery or garden center for another opinion. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
