Is It Better To Have Two Shorter Runs Of Soaker Hose Instead Of A Long Run

Question From: J. Lawrence - Moscow Mills, Missouri, United States
Q: I need to water a run of about 300 feet for new ground cover I am planting soon. I currently plan to us siix 50 foot soaker hoses attached to a programmable single outlet timer. Am I best to use a two outlet faucet timer in terms of needed pressure for what would be two shorter runs of 150 feet instead? Which is best?

A: I cannot specifically answer that question for you John. It depends on your hose, setup and circumstances, but often there are significant pressure/water supply differences along a long run of soaker hose. I suggest you contact the manufacturer of the soaker hoses for advice. Most websites have 800 numbers posted for advice. Good Luck Nancy
