Q: Just finished your article on watering trees. I have a "root feeder" with a 2 1/2 foot stem that can be pushed into the ground for watering around tree roots. Is this method better than watering the surface around the tree?
A: Water moves down through soil, it does not spread. So you need to make many holes. Root watering systems allow water to penetrate deeper and can help roots grow deeper and broader than with surface watering. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
