Ivy Plant Leaves Have Shiny Spots

Question From: Santa Rosa, California, United States
Q: My ivy plant sits outside by the front door. It is in a pot and shaped like a Christmas Tree that I have trained. The leaves have shinny spots - aphids? or ?. I do not see aphids on the leaves. Should I spray with water and liquid detergent? This has helped before.

Your problem is probably aphids. A stiff spray of water every three day will knock them off or you can use the soap and water method. Be sure to hit the undersides of the leaves. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
