Knockout Plant Leaves Get Holes And Disappear

Question From: C. Anderson - NORTH CAROLINA
Q: I have knockouts, just planted them this summer. The leaves start out with holes in them and are completely gone now. I do not see any bugs at all on them. What could this be?

A:

The larvae of rose sawflies will do it. They hang on the bottom of the leaves. Japanese beetles will also do it. A systemic pesticide for roses will take care of them. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
