Question From: R. Williams - Charles Town, West Virginia, United States
Q: I have a newly planted French pussy willow that suddenly most of the leaves in the to 2/3 of the bush have wilted and become quite dry. I have watered it regularly and the lower leaves appear to be doing ok. Any suggestions?
A: Very strange indeed. The only thing that comes to mind is chemical damage. If anything was sprayed in the area, could have been liquid fertilizer, a pesticide or an herbicide. New leaves have yet to develop a good cuticle that protects the leaves and are easily damaged or killed by chemicals. Keep it well watered and see how it goes. Do not fertilize it until fall or early spring. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
