Leaves Surrounding Shasta Daisy Blooms Are Turning Black

Question From: D. Tanner - Jasper, Georgia, United States
Q: My Shasta daisies look very healthy but everywhere there is a bloom coming in, the leaves around that bloom are turning black. I don't see any bugs...maybe some fungus?? is there something I can spray on them? The foliage is beautiful and about 3 feet high but I am afraid there will be no blooms if there is a bug or fungus. Thanks so much.

A: Sorry for the delay Debbie. Black leaves usually indicate fungal disease. Take sample to an independent garden center for an accurate ID and control. Best Nancy
